Hi, peeps!
It took me a while to finally publish this post. This is not an excuse, but I’ve been on a holiday at the end of last year, and I had very limited access to my laptop. Well, intentionally so. I didn’t bring my laptop with me.
I’ve had something in mind as a new resolution for this blog in 2026. You might have noticed that I’ve started writing in English from now on (finger crossed). I feel like this could be a good challenge for me to slowly train myself to write in English. It feels more versatile, and hopefully, my content can reach more people.
You might be thinking, “But there’s a translation plugin on the blog.” True, but… it kind of sucks. The browser’s auto-translation isn’t much better either as there are always some things missing or off.
So I decided that the best way to deliver my thoughts properly is to write directly in English. Hopefully, I’ll be able to translate my previous posts into English too, one by one.
Alright, that’s a quick catch-up before we deep dive into my December 2025 Reads.
I kept reading until the very last breath—kidding—until the very last month of the year, and that’s exactly why I couldn’t manage to write a proper monthly wrap. On the very last day of 2025, I was still reading a book and had reached 90% by 10 p.m. I could have finished it, but sleepiness attacked, so I finally closed my iPad.
A small update, by the way: my color e-reader broke. The LCD screen cracked, and it honestly felt a little heartbreaking. I might share the story behind it in another post.
- Akuryo Vol. 3 by Fuyumi Ono 4/5 ⭐
- The Burning God (The Poppy War #3) by R.F. Kuang 5/5 ⭐
- Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins 2/5 ⭐
- It's Okay Not to Get Along with Everyone by Dancing Snails 3,8/5 ⭐
- Not Quiet Dead Yet by Holly Jackson 4/5 ⭐
- Man of the Year by Iliana Xander 3/5 ⭐
Of course, The Burning God sat firmly in first place as my favorite book of the month. I am truly rooting for R.F. Kuang, especially for The Poppy War series. Babel was incredible, but The Poppy War series shook my reading world on an entirely different level.
The book was packed with events, unfolding like an intense journey across the country. From the south to the east, back to the south, and then onward to the north. There were mountain hikes, long returns, and yet another descent to the southeast. Through all of this, Kuang captured every moment beautifully.
Her writing is sharp and richly detailed; each event feels vivid and alive. As a reader, I could picture everything. I could feel the cold, the pain, and the sheer brutality of certain characters. This is an undeniable yes and a must-read fiction for me.
As my second favorite, I chose Not Quite Dead Yet. It won the Goodreads Award for the thriller category, and I knew I couldn’t miss it. I really enjoyed how fast-paced the story was. It follows an amateur protagonist who has to solve her own murder case within just seven days before she actually dies.
Red herrings were everywhere, and I trusted my instincts enough to realize that the murderer was practically right under our nose. It’s always the closest one, isn’t it? But when everyone around the main character feels close, the real question becomes: who exactly? I’ll let the mystery unfold as you read it yourself.
The narration feels very young adult, even though the main character is 27. Is 27 considered a full adult, or still young adult? From what I’ve read somewhere, 27 is supposedly only two years into “real adulthood” or something like that. Either way, the chick-lit–like narration makes the book incredibly easy to breeze through, sliding effortlessly from page to page.
Anyway, that’s it for this monthly wrap-up. I plan to make a 2025 reading wrap-up in the next post, so please bear with me.
What was your favorite read in December 2025? Tell me in the comment section. I’d love to know.
